I have always opposed the bad custom of awarding prizes to scientists by political bodies

Dear Bahram,

Dear SUTA Board of Directors,

Dear attendees of the 8th global SUTA Reunion,

First of all please accept my sincere thanks for my selection as this year awardee of the Dr. Amin’s Lifetime Achievement Award given by SUTA. As you may know I have always opposed the bad custom of awarding prizes to scientists by political bodies, although many of our colleagues in Iran are still proud of it! We in Iran have to go through a long struggle and challenge to establish a healthy scientific community within the country which is still missing! Any help from the side of our expatriates may accelerate this non-trivial process. My thanks to SUTA is mainly because of his role playing in connection with the emerging scientific community within Iran not always recognized as such! We should not forget that we are facing in Iran science managers who are not willing to hire even high ranking scientists such as “Einstein”!

Please also accept my sincere apology for not being able to attend the meeting and deliver a talk on a subject I feel crucial for our scientific development due to the unforeseen loss of my passport. I wish you a lively meeting and looking for impact of the SUTA Reunion on the community within Iran.
